Gazebo Review: The 3m x 3m Pro Compact Gazebo

One of the biggest drawbacks to professional standard gazebos is that they are often very long, cumbersome structures, even when packed down. This means that anybody that doesn’t have a van or a truck to transport them from A to B can be found wanting, and ultimately compromising with a lower quality tent.

However, with any commercial need there will always come a solution, and one such solution is the Pro Compact gazebo from Gala Tent. This innovative gazebo offers a much more manageable experience from a gazebo-transportation perspective, if perhaps a little trickier experience from a set-up perspective, but more on that later.

When it comes to investing in a commercial gazebo, whether you’re trading at craft shows, market days or exhibitions, you may go on the hunt for the cheapest, or the strongest. However, it is very important to consider the transportation. If you’re travelling in a car, you might find yourself scratching your head as you try to fit your stock or promotional equipment in beside the event tent.

A Closer Look at the Pro Compact Gazebo

The Pro Compact gazebo is one which has been manufactured using strong aluminium in the framework, taking features from Gala Tent’s popular Pro 40 model such as the 40mm hexagonal legs and nylon joints. However, where it stands on its own is in the double-telescopic legs which enable it to drop down to a very short 105cm.

The truss sections of a standard pop-up gazebo are often half the width of the tent; in the Compact, these trusses are only a quarter of the width, and there are twice as many of them. This allows the frame to pack down to compensate for its shortness.

It’s undeniably a tent that’s been built for business use, with the transportability at the heart of its USPs. The sheer number of components that are required to make this innovative gazebo so small on its lowest settings mean that it does come at a higher price point than, say, the Pro DX gazebo, so if you’re in the market for a home shelter then we recommend looking at that one first.

One of the standout features of the Pro Compact Gazebo is the high-quality canopy material used in its construction. 600d PVC-coated polyester that boasts remarkable water-resistance (Gala Tent goes on record to say that the covers have a hydrostatic head of 6000, which is incredibly protective against rain).   Because of the intricate nature of the framework, it does need to be set up slightly differently to any other gazebo you might have used, and it does take that bit longer, but once it’s up, it’s a great effective tent that serves its purpose well.

The Pro Compact Gazebo Review

To provide a comprehensive assessment of the Pro Compact Gazebo, we have evaluated it across five crucial criteria: wind resistance, ease of setting up, weight, strength, and overall performance.

Wind Resistance: ***

With its sturdy steel framework and reinforced nylon joints, the Pro Compact Gazebo demonstrates good wind resistance. In gusty conditions exceeding 15 mph, this gazebo remained firmly anchored, providing a reliable shelter for your outdoor activities.

Ease of Setting Up: ***

This is not a one-click-and-go gazebo. It’s lightweight, but you might want to watch an installation video before you put one up as it works differently to most others. We’ve borrowed Gala Tent’s video which you can see below, which will help you to make your mind up.

Weight: ***

It’s a commercial quality gazebo, but using lightweight aluminium means it’s not just reliant upon its shortness for transportability. This one weighs in at a relatively nifty 29kg including the canopy. It’s not one that’s built for regular commercial use, but it’s undeniably a perfect tent for traders and businesses that need something to pack down to less than the size of a medium suitcase.

Strength: ***

The Pro Compact Gazebo's strength lies in its innovative engineering and high-quality materials. From the 40mm aluminium framework to the hammer-tested nylon joints, every component is designed to withstand the rigors of outdoor use, ensuring a long-lasting and reliable shelter. We don’t recommend that you try to hang yourself or heavy products from the framework, but it will do a great job for you.

Overall Rating: ****

The undisputed appeal of this gazebo is its ability to fold down as small as it does. It’s not the strongest gazebo out there, nor is it the cheapest, but it does deliver on convenience and space-saving, which can be a lifesaver for traders and brands that need to cover themselves with something reliable but doesn’t have a lot of space to accommodate it on the trip to the venue.
